Weight Loss

Why is Weight Loss important in people with obesity?

Obesity is a disease associated with a significant increase in mortality and many health risks, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and coronary heart disease. The higher the body mass index (BMI), the greater the risk of morbidity and mortality.

Medical Weight Loss

At Essential Mental Health and Wellness, our weight loss program offers convenience and flexibility, as individuals can receive support and guidance from the comfort of their home. While lifestyle modifications, such as diet and exercise, are typically the foundation of weight loss efforts, some individuals may benefit from the addition of medications to support their weight loss journey. At this time, we offer compounded Semaglutide and Tirzepatide as well as other medications to assist with weight loss. Please refer to booking for pricing.

Semaglutide

Semaglutide is a medication that has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, which means it works by increasing insulin secretion, reducing glucagon secretion, and slowing down gastric emptying. Clinical trials have also demonstrated that semaglutide can lead to significant weight loss when used in combination with lifestyle modifications, such as a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. It is administered as a once-weekly injection.

Tirzepatide

Tirzepatide works by targeting two hormones, GIP and GLP-1, which play important roles in regulating blood sugar levels. By activating both GIP and GLP-1 receptors, tirzepatide helps to stimulate insulin secretion, reduce glucagon secretion, slow down gastric emptying, and decrease appetite. Clinical trials have also demonstrated that tirzepatide offers an EXTRA weight loss boost when used in combination with lifestyle modifications, such as a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. It is administered as a once-weekly injection.
